Shoup Manufacturing Announces Major Expansion in Kankakee

Kankakee County and Shoup Manufacturing revealed (Wednesday) a major expansion and associated infrastructure upgrade at Shoup’s manufacturing and distribution complex in Kankakee County. The $10 million project includes the addition of an 80,000 square foot warehouse, manufacturing expansion, constructing new parking lots and roads within the Shoup footprint, and will ultimately lead to 30-50 full time jobs, each earning between $30,000 and $70,000 per year with full benefits.

Tthe Kankakee County Finance Committee (Wed) approved utilizing $75,000 of ARPA funds to support Shoup’s investment in the local economy by funding road construction required to support the increased truck traffic to and from the site. The full County Board will consider the measure for final approval at their February meeting.

“This is precisely the role of good government,” said County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler. “Here we have a successful local manufacturer with roots in this community, a company investing in our community and our workforce and we have the opportunity to develop the infrastructure required to make the expansion happen. I can think of no better use of these funds than to foster economic development in our County, especially when it is supporting a company that supports our community the way Shoup does.”

A county government press release state Shoup may not be a familiar name to all Kankakee County residents, but it is a household name for America’s farmers. A company widely known for commitment to keeping the American farmer productive and up and running.
