One of Illinois' longest-running show choir competition events resumes this weekend in Iroquois County. The Watseka Show Choir Invitational is set for Friday night and Saturday at Watseka Community High School. The popular event is in its 37th year.
Junior high choirs perform Friday beginning at 5 pm. The high school teams share the stage beginning at 9:30 am Saturday.
Watseka Unit #9 Choir Director Jessica Fehland (Fay-land) says local students on stage include choirs from Manteno and El Paso.
The Watseka "Sensations" will perform along with the Glenn Raymond "Singers."
"The Sensations won 1st Place in their division at Danville High School, 2nd runner-up at Manteno and 2nd in division at El Paso too," Fehland said. "We've had a great year."
Watseka's Sensations also have an upcoming competition at Herscher this month. The group also performed recently at Center Grove High School in Indianapolis.
