A significant car collision on an Illinois interstate caused multiple deaths and over 70 cars damaged after a dust storm blinded drivers Monday. The crash happened Monday morning on a 2-mile stretch of Interstate 55 near Springfield. As of this (Tuesday) morning, 37 residents were transported to the hospital, according to State Police Captain Ryan Starrick.
Starrick said during a media update Monday afternoon that several people had passed away, including an 88-year-old woman from Wisconsin. .
The interstate has reopened since the crash.
