Six people arrested, one killed in weekend shootings in Kankakee

A half-dozen people are under arrest in Kankakee after gunshots rang out early today (Monday). One mad has died. City Police report the incident is still under investigation.

27-year-old Leroy McDaniel of Kankakee died of injuries suffered in the shooting about 2 am.

Also shot was Robert Scott III of Kankakee. Two other victims were also taken to hospitals by private vehicles.

Kankakee Police responded to shots fired at the "What Ever Bar" on S. East Avenue. Police found a large crowd outside engaged in several fights. Police from several agencies answered a back-up call.

Over an hour later, police responded to shots fired at 174 N. Evergreen Avenue. It appeared a shotgun was used. Jeffery Davis of Bourbonnais was shot in the leg.

In the 300-block of E. Bourbonnais Street, police found a vehicle damaged by gunfire.

Then...at 3:15 am police stopped a van leaving the area at a high rate of speed and stopped the vehicle arresting Sentray Coney of Kankakee. Five others in the van were also arrested.
