Forecasters were calling for another round of snow overnight — setting up the potential for a second day of dangerous commutes across the Region on Wednesday.

Lake, Porter, Newton and Jasper counties were expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow through 6 a.m. Wednesday — on top of the snowfall accumulated earlier in the week.

“While most of the snow will be done before the morning commute, the late end of the snow will likely leave some areas untreated, and will lead to a slower and likely slippery morning commute in spots on Wednesday,” according to the National Weather Service.

The development of lake effect snow on Wednesday across Lake and Porter counties is not out of the question, forecasters said.

The weather service is predicting a 40 percent chance of snow before noon Wednesday with wind gusts as high as 15 miles per hour. Temperatures will dip overnight with wind chill values as low as minus 8 degrees.

Chances for snow will increase heading into Thursday and Friday, according to NWS. Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 24 and a 40 percent chance of snow after noon. Snow will be likely after midnight.

More than 3 inches of snow accumulation is expected Friday.
