Snow, colder weather on Sunday

Western Illinois may be getting the worst of the winter weather this weekend. The Quad Cities may be in store for a mix of rain and sleet. The National Weather Service reports the same system is expected to bring snow to almost all of central Illinois.

The better news is that moderate amounts of rain between now and Saturday night are not expected to have any major impact on river levels. Colder air is headed this way, bringing below-zero wind-chill readings for Sunday and Monday. The high temps will only reach the mid-twenties.

Health officials advise people outdoors to dress in layers of light, warm clothing, mittens or gloves, scarves. Motorists should be aware of changing road conditions.
