A Bourbonnais man has been identified as the IDOT snowplow operator killed Monday in Iroquois County when his truck was hit by a train engine. Two engines were northbound on the Canadian National Railroad when the snowplow steered into the path of the engines at County Road 2300 N, just north of Danforth. The CNN Railroad police and Illinois State Police are investigating.
29-year-old Aaron Pittman-Teague was extricated from the wreckage of the plow. State Police confirmed he died at a Kankakee hospital. The Kankakee County Coroner's Office identified the victim. An autopsy was performed Tuesday. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
Ashkum and Danforth Fire responded to the crash just west of U.S. Route 45. Pittman-Teague was am IDOT employee working from the Ashkum IDOT yard since 2023. He was northbound on Route 45 when he turned left on to 2300 N into the path of the northbound CNN train engines.
