Solar Farm proposals up for vote at Planning & Zoning meeting in Iroquois County

Two solar farm projects, proposed in Iroquois County, are being heard today (Friday) before the Iroquois County Board’s Planning & Zoning Committee. The 10:15 am meeting is the Administrative Center in Watseka.

The Zoning Board of Appeals (Augusr 29th) gave its approval for both sites. The ZBA voted in favor 4-1 on both.
Microgrid Energy presented info on the Louis Kay property site in Belmont Township. It’s at 1700 N and County Highway 27.

The company’s interest in the Louis Kay site has a lot to do with its proximity to Ameren 3 phase lines. The company also favors sites where soil doesn’t have to be disturbed.

Microgrid also received the go-ahead from the ZBA for its Conditional Use permit for a Solar Farm in the name of Daniel & Ruth LaFond’s Trust. It’s in Beaverville Tsp at 1021 St. Charles Street in Beaverville.

The site is on the southeast corner where an Ameren sub-station is located.
