The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois makes its run thru Kankakee and Iroquois Counties today (Wednesday). The annual event finds police officers and others guiding the torch on its way to Normal, where the Special Olympics competition is held.
Law enforcement officers were scheduled to make their run from Manteno down Route 45/52. The run includes Kankakee and Iroquois County before the trek winds toward McLean County and the final stop in Normal.
The Flame of Hope includes some 3,000 officers carrying the torch nearly 1,500 miles, running and biking through thousands of Illinois communities to its final destination — the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games in Normal.
