An apartment fire in St. Anne (Friday) is under investigation. No injury was reported following the fire call at 3:45 am at Nicholson Super Service, along Illinois Route 1.
An apartment is located above the auto repair facility. The apartment is a total loss. The repair shop sustained smoke damage.
Fire Chief Tim Douglas said flames were shooting from the second-floor windows when firemen arrived. Crews, he said, got a good initial hit and knocked the fire down.
The cause is being investigated. The occupant was not home.
Douglas said the winds were not an issue. Fire crews were able to take control. Mutual aid was provided by Papineau, Pembroke, Aroma Park, Watseka, Kankakee and Bradley-Bourbonnais.
