The death of a Kankakee County teenager in a 2016 crash finds a St. Anne woman re-sentenced to 5 and a-half years in prison. 39-year-old Carmella Larson was orginally sentenced to six years for the crash that killed 15-year-old Kameron Allison of Reddick. But the state's 3rd District Appellate Court agreed with a defense argument, claiming now-retured Judge Ronald Gerts had erred during her sentencing hearing. A re-sentencing was ordered, and (Tuesday), Circuit Judge Michael Sabol sentenced Larson to the new 5 and a-half year term.
The Daily-Journal reports Larson's conviction for the DUI crash had her facing a sentencing that ranged from probation to 14 years.
The May 2016 crash, according to police reports, was at Illinois Route 17 and 19,000 W Road. Larson's southbound vehicle failed to yield and collided with a car Kameron Allison was in. Allison was killed, his brother was critically injured. The D-J reported Laron had been drinking that day and was headed back to St. Anne when ther crash occurred.
