Man in custody charged with 1st degree murder
A Gardner man is jailed on murder charges after the weekend stabbing death of a woman. Grundy County Sheriff’s Police report 52-year-old Jeffrey Conley shared an apartment with the victim. Conley allegedly admitted he stabbed 55-year-old Aleshea M. Raszkowski multiple times. Sheriff deputies were called to a home in the 100-block of East Parker Street in Gardner just before 5 am Sunday for a report of an overdose. Deputies found 55-year-old Aleshea Raszkowski lying on the floor unresponsive. Police reported the victim suffered apparent stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grundy County Coroner’s office a short time later.
A press release states deputies arrested Jeffrey Conley, charging him with first-degree murder. Conley is alleged to have admitted to stabbing Raszkowski. Conley’s seven-year-old daughter who was also in the home at the time of the stabbing was released to family members. The DCFS was notified.
Police say there’s no threat to the community. It was a domestic incident.
