If you’re feeling patriotic and want to show support for Central Unit Four Civic students, there’s a Memorial Stair Climb & Walk underway this (Monday) morning. It’s at the Central Comets football bleachers. The event now thru 11:30 am is to raise funds for the fallen firefighters from 9-11 and to support local fire departments.
A $5-dollar donation to skip the bleacher stairs or walk is about showing appreciation toward the many, many heroes and those 343 NY firefighters who lost their lives saving others in the 9-11 attacks in 2001.
Autumn Jordan and Haley Crock are among the Central Civics students involved.
The World Trade Center had 110 stories. That’s equal to 150 trips up the football bleachers.
Participants are invited to join students in showing respect and appreciation for firefighters. If the stairs are too much of a strain, visitors are welcome to walk the high school track instead. Donations go toward the NFFF (Nat’l Fallen Firefighters Fund).
