State Police investigate 2 accidents at Routes 24/52 in Iroquois County

Emergency personnel had a busy day (Monday) at Routes 24/52 at Sheldon where two accidents happened. Illinois State Police and IMH ambulance personnel were at the scene; a second mishap happened as the first was being investigated.

Janice Cook-Herreweyers of Sheldon was one of five involved in one accident that also involved a Kansas family. Herreweyers was northbound on 52, failed to yield and drove into the path of an SUV at the intersection. The driver of the SUV (Chris Jackson of Kansas) nor his three passengers were injured.

A Momence man was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way in a second collision. Jack tedford was northbound on 4th Street in Sheldon at the intersection. He was attempting to head north on Route 52 when he collided with an eastbound car operated by a New Whiteland, IN driver.

Injuries were not life-threatening.
