State Sen. Barickman hopes Gov. Pritzker works with the Legislature moving forward

As Governor J.B. Pritzker alters the phase three plan for restoring Illinois, many establishments will be opening sooner rather than later, and State Senator Jason Barickman sees it as progress.

“This is a positive step; this is a step in the right direction, I think it’s clear that the Governor is against the ropes,” Barickman said. “I think he has seen a significant public backlash to his order that he issued early May.”
Barickman added that he hopes the Governor works with the Legislature moving forward. “If the Governor would work with the Legislature, we could come up with a plan together, and a plan that it both protects Illinoisans and puts those appropriate safeguards in place, but is also in line with the public expects to see at this point.”

Bars and restaurants, hair salons, public parks, and many other businesses across Central Illinois are set to reopen May 29.
