Stolen goats leads to burglary & theft charges in Iroquois County

Two Kankakee men were jailed in Iroquois County after a wild chase through rural Martinton after goats were stolen from a residence.

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police are reporting the arrests of 57-year-old Thornell Underwood and 34-year-old Jonathan Williams. They're both facing burglary and felony theft charges. Police say additional arrests are likely.

It was Monday evening when deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress. The victims encountered an unknown vehicle in their driveway. The vehicle was hooked up to a livestock trailer where several subjects around the vehicle were attempting to steal goats from inside a shed on the property.

The complainant reported the vehicle fled the scene with one of the suspects hanging on the side of the trailer. The victim reportedly pursued the suspects until responding deputies arrived. The stolen goats were returned unharmed.

Underwood and Williams were taken into custody.
