Rainfall totals over the weekend varied in several area communities, but the Champaign and Vermilion County towns were hardest hit. The NWS will determine if tornados or straight-line winds did the damage Sunday. Tornado warnings were issued. Structure damage and downed power lines and trees were reported. Ameren also had about 8,000 customers without service.
High winds and heavy rain came down in Watseka early Sunday morning followed by more stormy weather later in the day. No personal injurues were reported. WGFA/WIBK Radio recorded 2.22 inches of rain. The Hoopeston and Rossville areashad upwards of five to six inches.
Some roads were flooded in Danville. Barricades were placed. Flash Flood warnings were issued for several counties, including Iroquois, Ford, Livingston and Champiagn and Vermilion.
