The past weekend weather...temps reaching 80 degrees...may have a lot of folks ready for the big splash. Officials in area towns are prepping for the start of the swimming season. Most communities have a target date for opening on Memorial Day Weekend.
The City of Watseka recently announced repairs have been made to the pool at Legion Park. Public Works Director Marvin Delahr said painting and new pumps are in place. The past year's flooding forced extra repairs. Pumps have been raised for precaution.
Memorial Day Weekend is the expected opening at Legion Park.
At Clifton -- the pool is ready to welcome additional swimmers this year. And local leaders are pretty excited after all the work this last year making repairs and raising money.
A 50-year celebration is planned. A grand re-opening of the Clifton pool is in the works.
The pool reopens during Memorial Day weekend. It was closed last year for extensive repairs. A local pool committee spearheaded an effort to raise $50,000 toward repairs.
In Chebanse --- Centennial Pool has also been involved with repairs. Memorial Day Weekend is the target for pool-fun this year.
Other towns busy with their own pool plans include Milford, Onarga and Hoopeston. The Memorial Day weekend is target date.
