Teenager injured in Go-Kart crash

It's happened again. A 13-year-old girl was airlifted to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis Sunday afternoon, after she crashed her Go-Kart into a tree.

13-year-old Lindsey White of Lafayette, was driving the Go-Kart with her stepfather, 36-year-old Benjamin Irby, when the crash happened near Hershey Elementary school in Tippecanoe County.

Dad told police he had just given the girl control of the steering wheel, when she swerved to miss friends and hit the tree.

Irby was uninjured in the crash.

White was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital, and then immediately airlifted to Riley. Deputies said Lindsey White sustained serious head and chest injuries.

Neither White nor Irby were wearing helmets.
