The Iroquois County Board’s finance committee has forwarded its FY17 budget proposal for the full board’s approval. That could happen at Tuesday’s meeting (October 11).
The blueprint shows a $642 dollar surplus.
The budget includes adding one deputy to the sheriff’s department and eliminating one of two maintenance directors.
The county has operated with two salaried maintenance directors, one for each of the two buildings, after the past administration hired a second person to oversee the Administrative Center while the veteran maintenance director was limited to operations at the courthouse.
Records show as many as five positions have either been created or turned from part-time to full-time.
The proposed budget will be available for public review in the County Clerk’s Office, once approved by the County Board.
