‘The Purdue Group’ updates Watseka leaders on community study

A group of Purdue University graduate students, with local ties, met again with local officials in Watseka as they formulate plans to help enhance the town. Watseka Mayor John Allhands hopes to get more people involved next year. Community meetings in January and February will welcome more input…

“With the façade improvement program and the Purdue study, we’re creating more energy … it’s all positive,” Allhands said.

The Purdue students are helping with marketing that’ll hopefully draw some new business. The mayor wants more communication, both inside and from outside sources. Allhands calls it ‘more economic development on a more city-scale.

The study has been ongoing for about a year. The scope of the project is to develop more expertise on taking ideas to the next level.
