Three Chicago men were arrested for passing counterfeit money at businesses in Dwight and Pontiac. 27-year-old Jerome Mims, 21-year-old Raheem Johnson, and 25-year-old Gregory Guy have been charged with forgery. All three were jailed in Livingston County. Police said Guy was also charged with obstructing justice and is wanted on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant. The men are accused of passing counterfeit money at a business in Dwight, a $100 bill at a location in Pontiac, and an attempt was made for a small purchase using a counterfeit $100 at another store.
Investigators say after the last attempt was made, the suspects ran out of the store but not before an alert employee took photographs of the trio and their vehicle. The suspects’ vehicle fled south on Route 66 and was subsequently stopped near Lexington by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Police, Chenoa Police and Illinois State Police.
