Tornado activity disrupts Memorial Day Holiday

Central and Northern Illinois are cleaning up the aftermath of Memorial Day storms that brought hail, straight-line winds, and reports of tornadoes touching down. The Chicago Tribune reports more than 200 flights were canceled at O’Hare International Airport, and more than 40 canceled at Midway Airport.

The NWS reports three small tornadoes hit Champaign County Sunday.  All three were EF-1 and touched down on the south side of Urbana.  There were reports of extensive damage, including downed trees, power lines and rooftops torn off. There were no reports of injuries.

Chicago's southeast suburba experienced tornadoes near the State line and then storms hit eastern Indiana befoe moving off to Dayton, Ohio.
