Tornadoes confirmed in Indiana

The National Weather Service has confirmed seven tornadoes struck central Indiana this week. The finding came (Wed) after assessment teams reviewed reports of funnel cloud sightings in Benton County, near Fowler and Oxford.

The NWS says the strongest of the twisters Monday was rated EF2, with winds of 111-135 mph, and struck 2½ miles southeast of Whitestown in Boone County.

Three tornadoes were rated EF1 with winds of 86-110 mph. Two struck in Hendricks County and a third was near Sheridan in Hamilton County.
