Illinois’ budget mess over the last two years has done nothing to help the state’s financial status on the world markets. But Illinois Treasurer Mike Frerichs hasn’t let the budget crisis hold his office back in striving to upgrade programs the treasurer can control.
Frerichs tells WGFA News the mood is always upbeat in his office...
“Illinois has had eight credit downgrades in the last two years because of no budget and lack of management. But our office (Treasurer’s office) actually gained two upgrades on our college savings programs, Frerichs said.
“This happened because we worked and negotiated with our credit people, no arguing, just common sense, Frerichs added.
And Frerichs is not shy about promoting the Ag programs his office offers to keep the light shining on the state’s Ag communities.
