Illinois State Police were investigating a crash early Saturday on Interstate 74 that took a life.

Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson reported the accident was under investigation. The victims' name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

A state snowplow driver notified state police after he reported seeing a vehicle crash on I-74 between St. Joseph and Ogden. That was shortly before 1 am Saturday.

State troopers found a semitrailer truck had gone off the right side of the road, ran into a line of trees and stopped partially submerged in a pond.

There were no passengers, state police said. The driver's name was not released pending notification of family.
