A train struck a pickup truck in Coal City (Monday), killing the truck's driver. Grundy County emergency officials investigated in Wilmington Township. Sheriff's Police report the accident at Murphy Road. Police and fire personnel said the victim was ejected from the vehicle. The pickup is believed to have been stuck in gravel at the railroad crossing's north side. The truck was hit by a BNSF freight train. Officials said the crossing bells,lights and gates were operating at the time.
