A Hazel Crest (IL) truck driver was killed Saturday morning when his rig plunged from I-57. Illinois State Police reported the semi-trailer landed on top of the truck tractor.

State Police reported 49-year-old Jeffery Foster was northbound just after 9 am. The driver lost control of the truck just north of the 312 exit and entered the median. The vehicle drove between a viaduct and fell to an area below the interstate. The semi-trailer landed on top of the truck-tractor.

The cause is under investigation.
