Today is National Voter Registration Day and the president of the Illinois Association of County Clerks and Recorders says voters should use the day to make sure their info is up-to-date.
Even though the next statewide election isn’t until the March primary, County Clerks say events are scheduled throughout the state to register people to vote. Those already registered should make sure they’re info is correct.
Secretary of State Jesse White Press Secretary Dave Druker said their office is proud of their efforts to register people. Druker said White’s offices handle nearly 50 percent of new registrations. That number could increase once automatic voter registration begins in the summer of 2019.
