Tuesday morning house fire in Watseka

An estimated $20,000 in damage was done to a house in Watseka Tuesday.  The cause was under investigation.  Watseka Fire answered the call at 5:50 am to 462 E. Cherry Street.  Assistant fire chief Nick Peters reported damage was to the rear portion of the home, in the kitchen area.  James and Corena Herder are the homeowners.  No one was injured.  Mutual aide was provided by firemen from Crescent City, Woodland and Milford.

Fire also forced employees to evacuate a grocery warehouse in Urbana Tuesday morning.  About 40 employees were outside the structure on N. Lincoln Avenue in Urbana when firefighters arrived around 2 am.  A chiller unit on the roof may have been the cause.  Firemen reported the damage was contained to an area about 20-feet from the chiller unit.

In Will County -- A farm supply store was destroyed Tuesday in suburban Shorewood.  The blaze broke out at Tri-County Stockdale Company along Black Road.  The store sells animal feed, yard care products and fertilizer supplies.  Officials reported burning fertilizer released toxic fumes into the air.  That forced a shelter-in-place order for about an hour.  No one was injured.
