Two arson fires in Kankakee

Fire and Police investigators in Kankakee are investigating two arson fires, one Tuesday night and another this (Wednesday) morning.  Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche reported both fires are suspicious in nature.  No one was injured in either case.

LaRoche reported the first call alerted firemen about 9:15 pm to the 100 block of North Evergreen Avenue. A residential porch fire was quickly extinguished.  Witnesses told police a woman set the fire.  Then at approximately 4:45 am today, firefighters were called to the 1800-block of East Marmion Street where two cars parked in a driveway were found on fire. The car's owners lived at the residence. One of the cars sustained minor damage. while the other was listed as a total loss.  The house was not damaged. The fires were caused by the use of Molotov cocktail devices, according to Chief LaRoche.  Investigators said there are no suspects at this time.
