Two-vehicle crash closes Rt 24 in Iroquois County

WATSEKA — Serious injuries reported today (Thurs) in Iroquois County in a two-vehicle crash on Route 24. State Police have withheld any further information after a section of the state highway at 2700 E Road.


Names of those involved have not been released. Emergency helicopters were dispatched. The accident occurred at 1:11 p.m. east of Watseka.


District 21 Illinois State Police said a car was westbound on Illinois 24 when it crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a U-Haul truck driven by a 48-year-old man from Walkerton, Ind.


The U-Haul's driver and a passenger — a 73-year-old female from Walkerton, Ind. — were transported to a hospital for treatment. The identity of the driver of the car was not known.


All were wearing seat belts.
