The unemployment rate in Kankakee fell in May. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports the number at 4.2 percent. That’s down from 4.7 percent in May of last year.

Iroquois County’s unemployment in May was at 3.4%... down one-percent from April. Ford County is listed at 3.6%... down from 3.6% from 2018. Vermilion County was 4.5 percent in May .. down from April’s 5.3 percent.
The lowest jobless rate in the state is in the Bloomington area, the highest is in the Rockford region.
