Latest numbers from the Illinois Department of Employment Security show unemployment rates down and jobs up for all metro areas of the state. Kankakee County figures are showing 6.9% in April, down from 16.2 percent in April of 2020. Danville numbers were 6.5% in April, down from 17 percent last April. Champaign-Urbana was 11% in 2020 and now at 4.8%. Bloomington-Normal unemployment in April was 4.8%, down from just under 13% in 2020. Closer to home, Iroquois County unemployment was 4.6% in April, down from 11.3 in April of 2020 and Ford County comes in at 4.1 percent, down from 11.9% in April of last year.
