Newest numbers from the Illinois Department of Employment Security show the jobless rates in all of the state’s metro areas fell again in December. Kankakee, Danville and Champaign-Urbana showed significant drops.
The Kankakee unemployment is listed as 6.5%, down from 7.3% in December of 2015. In Vermilion County the jobless rate in December 2016 was 7.2 percent, compared with 7.7 percent a year ago. The Champaign-Urbana-Rantoul area the jobless rate fell from 5.7 percent in December of 2015 to 4.9 percent last month.
The Bloomington unemployment was 5>5 in December compared to 5.6% in December 2015. Decatur’s rate was 6.4%, down from 7.7% a year earlier.
