Unemployment rates improve

Job gains in manufacturing helped boost employment levels in the Danville and Vermilion County area last month. The Illinois Department of Employment security shows Vermilion County’s unemployment rate dropped by one-percent to 4.8 percent in April. The City of Danville had a jobless rate of 5.1 percent, down from 5.8 percent in March.

The Illinois jobless rate in April was 3.6%...down from 4.5% last year.

The Kankakee unemployment rate was 4.2% ....down from 4.7 in 2017.

Iroquois County’s unemployment in April was 3.2% ...down from 4.5% in April.
