The United Way plays a vital role in assisting local agencies. And Thursday, The United Way of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties conducted its 80th Anniversary Celebration while getting its fundraising program started.

Executive Director Kristin Rust reports there’s no hard numbers on this year’s fundraising goal, but there was a 37% increase last year. There’s hope this year will be a match or better.  Funding thru the United Way supports some 20 agencies throughout the 2-county area.
