Milford woman cited for stop sign violation

A Ford County traffic accident Tuesday took the life of a Rankin woman after the second driver involved failed to observe a stop sign. Sheriff’s Police reported 84-year-old Mary Diskin died of her injuries at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Police reports show 73-year-old Nancy Lee of Milford failed to stop at the intersection of 2600 E and 200 N.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup pronounced Diskin dead at the hospital. The Diskin vehicle collided with Lee’s car, which was eastbound on 200 N. Lee was also taken to Carle Hospital. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. Paxton and Rankin Fire answered the call just before Noon.
