Ford County Coroner Rick Flessner and the Illinois State Police investigated a Thursday morning collision between a car and a semi that left two people dead.

Troopers say a car being operated by 21-year-old Kelsey Bridgwater of Saybrook was eastbound on Illinois route 9 when the driver apparently lost control. The car crossed the center line and struck the semi head-on. Bridgwater and a passenger in her car....24-year-old Jesse Charly of Jacksonville, Florida, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, from Ohio, was not hurt.

The crash occurred on Route 9 at 1300 East Road just past 10 am. The crash closed the route for about five hours.
