Update: Investigators Determine Cause of Morocco Fire

The Morocco Fire Department with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office have completed a cause/origin investigation for the house fire at 304 East Grove Street, Morocco, IN on Tuesday.

Fire investigators determined the cause of Tuesday’s fire to be electrical in origin, stemming from a multi plug device plugged into an electrical wall outlet. The fire that started around 4:50 pm Tuesday began in a second story bedroom and extended into the attic and hallway before being extinguished by fire fighters.

A cat in the bedroom alerted the residents to the fire by scratching the bedroom door. Occupants were able to free the cat from the bedroom. Smoke detectors were present in the home, however were not in working condition. No one was injured as result of the fire.
