UPDATE: Pembroke Township man arrested for fatal midday shooting in Kankakee

Kankakee police have arrested a Pembroke man in connection with Tuesday’s midday shooting that left one man dead. More arrests are expected.

The victim and the suspect have not been identified. Police initially said they believe there was only one shooter, but several shots were fired in an alley near Bourbonnais Street and Harrison Avenue.

The victim was taken to a Chicago-area hospital where he died Tuesday evening. He was shot in the neck following what police are calling an altercation.

It was the city's fourth homicide of the year following another homicide Sunday.

A man was killed and two others were injured in two separate shootings over the weekend in Kankakee.

33-year-old Jonathan S. Willis, 33 of Kankakee died of multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. He was shot early Sunday at an outdoor party on N. Evergreen Avenue.

A 22-year-old Kankakee man sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg.
