Bond was set at #100,000 today (Tuesday) for Abacuc Rodriquez of Watseka. The 45-year-old is charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery for the beating he allegedly put on his girlfriend over the weekend.
Rodriquez remained jailed in Watseka. He appeared in Circuit Court before Judge James Kinzer.
Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police, with assistance from Watseka Police, arrested Rodriquez Monday evening in Gilman.
State’s Attorney Jim Devine said the Class 2 felony of Aggravated Domestic Battery could result in probation to seven-years in prison, if convicted.
The victim, Kelly McClanahan, suffered a severe head injury in the alleged beating. She’s hospitalized in Urbana.
The beating, prosecutors said, occurred Sunday evening after a day of fun on the river.
McClanahan was taken to IMH by Rodriquez, who claimed she was involved in a boating accident. The investigation led to a finding that McClanahan was a beating victim.
After treatment at IMH, the victim was air-lifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana.
