An Iroquois County woman and a Hoopeston man were killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday in Vermilion County.

Coroner’s offices in Champaign and Vermilion counties have released the names of the two victims who died in the Route 1 crash.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said 59-year-old Denise L. Ried of Wellington died of injuries at Carle Hospital in Urbana. She was airlifted from the scene and died at 8:16 p.m. Wednesday.

Ried’s mini-van was hit head-on by a pickup truck near County Road 3870N.

Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden says the driver of a pickup truck who was pronounced dead at the scene is 52-year-old Warren W. Harms of Hoopeston.

Illinois State Police reported Harms was attempting to pass another vehicle on Route 1 when his truck collided head-on with Ried’s minivan. The accident happened about 6:20 pm. The mishap remains under investigation.
