Danville Police report a suspect is in custody in the shooting of a local police officer Friday night.
A three-hour standoff with police ended peacefully with the arrest of 23-year-old
Michael Rouse of Ridge Farm. He was taken into custody on a warrant charging him with attempted murder of a peace officer. There's also a warrant for Rouse from the Illinois Department of Corrections for absence without authorization. Bond on the attempted murder of a peace officer is set at $5-million dollars.
Rouse was identified as suspect in the shooting. At about 6 pm Friday, a Danville Police officer saw Rouse on Cannon Street. After Rouse was observed running into a home police surrounded it. Rouse surrendered peacefully according to police reports around 9:15 pm.
