The Vermilion County Board was told (Tuesday) evening that county expenditures look OK even though the state’s financial picture is still putting a strain on other governmental bodies.
Some county departments are doing better than others, but concerns continue because the State of Illinois has not been paying its bills.
The finance committee reports sales tax revenues and salary reimbursements for some positions are two of the areas of concern. Vermilion County Board Chairman Mike Marron say the county has been monitoring revenues closer than ever before.
County Treasurer Darren Duncan has been providing the County Board with monthly updates. Marron added that Vermilion County elected officials and department heads have been doing a good job with their expenditures. The expenditures for those offices have been considerably below what was budgeted.
