Voters in Vermilion County voted down a proposal to raise the sales tax by one-percent on certain items. The County Clerk’s office reports Tuesday’s vote shows the proposal was defeated 5103 to 4464.

Some Vermilion County school boards had said they intended to use the new revenues to reduce property taxes.
