Vermilion, Will Counties record weekend traffic fatalities

The weekend snow and white-out conditions were contributing factors to traffic crashes that killed motorists in Vermilion and Will counties. Motorists were advised of weather conditions that brought sudden changing road conditions.  A mix of snow and freezing rain hampered travel in east-central Illinois and elsewhere.

In Vermilion County, four people were hurt in a crash at the south edge of Westville.  One victim died of injuries Sunday evening at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Sheriff's Police reported white-out conditions as the snow fell during the noon hour.  Deputies and Illinois State Police investigated up to 40 slide-offs and colisions along I-74.

In Will County, two men died in a single-vehicle rollover accident in Peotone.  Thirty-two year-old Danny Clancy Jr. of Monee and 29-year-old Johnallen Blount Jr. of Crete suffered fatal injuries when theire car left the road near the South Harlem and East Corning intersection.  It happened around 3:30 Sunday morning.  The car rolled several times and came to rest in a business parking lot.
