Veterans Day Events ...

Area veterans are all invited to share in some special events for this 2022 Veterans Day holiday.  Breakfast and receptions are planned at several venues.  Government offices, schools will be closed for the holiday, but it's a special time to recognize the people who have served in our military.

American Legion Post #23 in Watseka welcomes the public to the Legion Park Home at 11 am Friday.

Onarga Legion Post 551 is teaming up with the Princess Wach-E-Kee Chapter of the NSDAR in offering a Veterans' Day Appreciation Breakfast at the Onarga Post.  The event is from 8 - 10 am.  RSVP are appreciated but not required.

Watseka Community High School is hosting a Free Breakfast for Veterans on Friday from 8:15 - 9:30 at the High School.  

A Salute to Our Veterans is a community event at the Momence School District at 9 am Friday, November 11.  The event is open to the public.  

A Veterans Day Ceremony is at 11 am Friday at Legion Park in Manteno.  Manteno American Legion welcomes everyone to the event.  The Honor Guard will march to the park for the ceremony.  Lunch will be served.

The Kankakee County Veterans' Council is hosting its ceremony beginning at 10 am at the County Museum on S. 8th Avenue.  Stanley Olenjack will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter.  Special Speaker is Michael Spade, a veteran of the Illinois Army National Guard and Commander of the local St. George American Legion Post 1164.  The ceremony will salute all veterans. 

The Veterans Assistance Commission of Kankakee County has an Open House at its new location at 581 William Latham Drive, Suite 302 in Bourbonnais.  The public can visit the new location from  2- 5 pm. on Veterans Day.
