A Veterans Honor Program welcomed the community at Watseka High School this (Friday) morning. American Legion Post 23 presented the colors. Area veterans were invited to the program. A breakfast was served prior to the honors program.
American Legion Post 551 at Onarga will also serve veterans and their spouses a free breakfast Saturday, November 11. The Princess Wach-E-Kee DAR chapter is serving the breakfast from 8 - 10 am. A Thrivent Action Team is involved with the project.
The Vermilion County Joint Veterans Council's Saturday morning ceremony is at 11 am. American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard invites the public to attend. Chili will be served starting at Noon. County Coroner Jane McFadden will speak about womens' roles in the military. McFadden served in the U.S. Army as an Electronic Warfare Signal Intelligence Officer.
A Special Taps Program is also scheduled on Veterans Day at the Vermilion County War Museum. It begins at 11 am.
