DIXON, Ill. (AP) -- A northern Illinois veteran has received his military medals more than 40 years after the war in Vietnam.
The Telegraph in Dixon reports that 63-year-old Leonard "Len" Saunders of Polo was presented with the medals on Monday. U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger presented him with a Purple Heart and the Army Commendation with Valor. About 20 of Saunders' family and friends were in attendance at the American Legion in Dixon.
